From Jess, founder of The Cuddle Club.
A few years ago I was going through the hardest year of my life. I couldn't sleep. I was prescribed antidepressants, and even though I loved it, I couldn't sleep till late at night. It made the next day really hard.
I liked night time back then. The sun is only for happy people is what I thought (or people with jobs). So if you happen to be reading this at some awful hour then it's fate... but otherwise, I know you're here for a reason. I'm sure you know... doing girl-math on exactly how much sleep you'd get if you fell asleep right now.. except your nervous system doesn't understand "right now".
What got me through that year wasn't one big thing, and I can't say it was any one thing. That year was a blur.
I moved from one coping mechanism to another. Talk therapy. Meditation. Melatonin. What really helped (with nostalgia) was something from my childhood, but weighted. A weighted plushie.
I want to be straight with you about it, because I've seen brands who aren't.
It didn't save me from my rock bottom in 2023... I saved myself. But it was a really therapeutic tool that surprised me. Frankly, it took me almost 3 months before I found out about it, and actually buying my first one. Once I tried one... I felt comforted at night time, especially when alone.
A good tool. For nighttime. That's what I made.
Fair. I asked the same thing. The answer isn't the toy part (as much as my inner child loved), it's in the weight.
When was the last time you held a hug for 10 seconds? I highly recommend it. You can't think your way to that signal. Your body is smarter than your mind. And studies show it: adults with insomnia who slept with a weighted blanket slept significantly better over a four-week trial (Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, 2020).
Just one of many.
Weight grounds you, and especially when your nervous system is still racing, that's what it needs to help you go to sleep.
You can. A lot of our customers tried that first:
"I have tried weighted blankets and found them too heavy or hot. The weighted stuffed Bunny 'Bubbles' feels so soft and cuddly."
Ann Harding, SA
Blankets get the idea right and the night wrong. They can run hot. They can pin your body. And what good is falling asleep quickly if you're waking up at 3-4am, hot, needing to readjust?
I've tried it. Weighted plush toys, 1.8kg, evenly distributed through the body & limbs, so it actually feels like being held. Not pinned down. Doesn't run hot. It goes where you go (TV, Living Room, Bedroom, even on a flight / trip to the dentist)
Trust me, I've tried them all. I tried 8 before I decided to put the weight in the limbs. To pick hypoallergenic fur. 12 months of consulting across hospitals in NSW, Occupational Therapists who genuinely use & advice weight for sensory seeking kids & adults.
You will notice the difference if you buy mine.
I'll let a customer say the rest:
"The price is the only barrier I had originally."
Karrina, Melbourne VIC
Karrina owns two now. One for the bed, one for the couch. Over your first year, one Pal works out to about 49 cents a night.
I'm the founder, of course I'd say nice things. Here's Meghan from Perth. Two lines, same review:
"living with a anzity disorder it hard to sleep... but now i can sleep threw tje night."
Meghan, Perth WA
And the one that gets me, because she didn't expect it either:
"I never thought I'd be saying this but this is so much more than a plushie or stuffed toy... I can't sleep a single night without it."
Katelyn, VIC
Plenty of people feel a bit silly about it at first. Adinda from Melbourne said she was hesitant, thought it might be too kiddy. Like with you, I offered a 30 day sleep trial. She kept hers.
One Pal is $179. Sleep with it for 30 nights. If it doesn't help you settle, send it back and we'll refund you. I mean that. It's not magic and it doesn't fix everything. But 30 nights is enough time to know.
Please do let me know if you had any questions. And whether you choose us or not, I genuinely hope you find the comfort & sleep you're looking for.
